Our Story
The Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme (KWSHIS) was established by Law on November 15th, 2017 to provide mandatory health insurance coverage to all residents of Kwara State, including, the indigent and vulnerable (as defined by the Kwara State Health Insurance Agency), employees in the public and private sectors and employees in the informal sector or the unemployed.
Our Story

Our Objectives
Promote inclusive health care coverage for all residents of the State, through pre-payment, risk pooling, & subsidies for the poor.
Ensure equitable distribution of health care costs among different income groups.
Improve administrative and clinical capacity of health facilities through effective and transparent quality improvement standards and business management practices.
Increase investment in the health care delivery system by leveraging public/ donor funding mechanisms to attract private investment.
Improve transparency, operational efficiency, decision making and interactions between the Payer, the Healthcare Service Provider and the Patient through a digital platform.
Improve the health indices of the State, including maternal and under 5 mortality rates.

Our Management Team
Our management staff were carefully selected from the civil services and the private sector in different field of expertise to deliver our core mandate of providing affordable, accessible, and available health care services to the residents of Kwara State.
Our digital platform allows us to work efficiently, almost in real time, showing accountability, transparency in all areas of implementation.
